Pranav Chhaliyil and Shobha Dasari among America's top High School Science students

Shobha Dasari of The Woodlands College Park High School, The Woodlands, Texas, Pranav Chhaliyil of Maharishi School, Fairfield, Iowa and Anjali Chadha of duPont Manual Magnet High School, Louisville, Kentucky are among 70 Indian Americans who made the initial selection for the 2019 U.S. national science talent awards.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) is America’s most prestigious high school science competition. Alumni of STS hold more than 100 of the world's most coveted science and math honors, including the Nobel Prize and National Medal of Science. Annually, students entering the Regeneron STS compete for more than $3.1 million in awards.

The scholars hail from 184 American and international high schools in 38 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and two countries abroad. 

In 2017, Regeneron became the third sponsor of the Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. As part of its 10-year, $100 million commitment, Regeneron nearly doubled the overall award distribution to $3.1 million annually to better reward the best and brightest young minds.

The contest is run by the Society for Science & the Public. It is headed by Maya Ajmera. It is guided by the belief that scientific advances are key to solving global challenges. It founded the Science Talent Search in 1942, providing a national stage for the country’s best young scientists to present original research to nationally recognized, professional scientists.
