Google CEO Sundar Pichai condemns Anti-Asian violence in the USA
Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google, emailed employees last week, after six Asian Americans were shot dead in Atlanta on March 18. “I know the effects of the hateful violence reach way beyond Atlanta,” his email stated. “The loss of these eight lives is tragic — and so is the reality that anybody would be targeted because of their race or gender as appears to be the case here and in so many other recent incidents.”
“The news is weighing heavily on all of us,” Pichai added.
Earlier on February 26, following a series of violent attacks on Asian Americans in the U.S., Pichai tweeted: It’s important that we not let the violence against Asian & Pacific Islander communities fade from the headlines. All of us at Google continue to stand with and support you. Together we can work to #StopAsianHate.”
About 42% of Google’s employees are Asian.
