Jai Ram Srinivasan performs in A Christmas Carol on Broadway
Eight year old Jai Ram Srinivasan plays the role of Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol at the Lyceum Theater on Broadway in New York. He shares the role with another young actor Sebastian Ortiz. The show which opened on November 7 is scheduled to run till January 5, 2020.
Born in Washington DC, Jai Ram has cerebral palsy, His service dog Banks accompanies him everywhere. Before acting he was modeling clothes for Tommy Hilfiger and Zappos.
Jai Ram’s interest in fashion started in 2016 when his parents, Ram Srinivasan and Kate Sowerwine, took him to the annual Runway of Dreams gala in New York City. Runway promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities in the fashion industry.
“He was getting his picture taken and he got really excited and started doing little movements and smiling,” Sowerwine told The Ashburn Magazine. “The photographers loved it and so did Jai. He said, ‘Next year, I want to be on stage.’”
Jai Ram is a third grader attending Newton-Lee Elementary School in suburban Virginia, where he lives with his parents and his 6-year-old sister, Ivy. He plays golf, basketball and tennis with his family. But, due to balance issues, he has difficulty playing with other kids.
When he’s not playing golf or tennis, Jai Ram is on his Xbox playing NBA 2K, managing his fantasy basketball team and practicing as a sports commentator, according to The Ashburn Magazine.
