Eleven-year-old Indian boy saves man from drowning in pool

Minnesota, January 2019. Srinivasa Yalavarthi, 34, was rescued from drowning in a swimming pool in Eagan, Minnesota by eleven-year-old Advaik Nandikotkur, who is less than half his size.

Advaik jumped into the pool to save Srinivasa, at the urging of his mother. After Srinivasa was lifted out of the pool, Advaik’s uncle performed CPR on Srinivasa. Advaik learned to swim at a local swim school Aqua Tots. His photo, with this story, is from his swim school album.

Advaik was with his uncle and mother at an indoor pool in the family’s apartment complex. In a a pool full of adults, he was the only person present who knew how to swim, according to reports.

Advaik Nandikotkur became an instant media celebrity following his rescue act with dozens of TV interviews and profiles in People magazine and several other publications.
